Unearthing Remnants

An Ashtamangalya Prasnam (an astrological derivation by eminent astrologers to unearth the divine past) headed by Brahmasri Manappuzha Raman Namboothiri was conducted in October 2004 consequent on finding dilapidated temple remnants at Arikkad near Malamakkavu in Palakkad District of Kerala. It was revealed that there existed a full-fledged temple (Maha Kshetram) of Lord Mahavishnu in the Narasimha form (one of the great Avatars (incarnations) of Lord Mahavishu) ,the divinity and powerfulness of which is not lost in the course of time. To preserve the prosperity for posterity, necessary tantric rites and offerings had to be carried out.

With the active participation and co-operation of the devotees in and around, the temple renovation committee has purchased the land from private possessor where the remnants were found and started reconstruction of the temple. We could arrange to conduct the required rites and poojas which had to be done immediately, in November 2005 and started offering of Malarnivedyam on two days in a week (Thursday and Sunday) as an initial step.As the adoration for Malarnivedyam from devotees has increased significantly ,the offerering has improved to three days in a week (Tuesday,Thursday and Sunday). With the grace of Lord Mahavishnu , Ashtadravya Mahaganapathy Homam ,Namajapam (rendering of names of Lord with devotion) ,Spiritual discourses and rendering of Puranas are also done regularly.
From the remnants ,it is rightly presumed that the main Sanctum Sanctorum (Sreekovil) was in circular form ,which is very rare; what remains now is the portion only up to peetom (support ground in which the main idol is fixed). The basement of the circular Sanctum Sanctorum (Sreekovil) has been reorganized from the excavated remnants. The circular Sreekovil (Sanctum Sanctorum) for the main deity that is Sri Vishnu Narasimha Murthy and temples for Durga,Sri Ganapathy and Lord Sastha have also been constructed.
With the grace of Lord we have successfully completed the consecration (PRATHISHTA) of all the deities under the headship of eminent priests, strictly following all thantric rituals. We are grateful to all natives and devotees without whose active cooperation this could not be accomplished.
We humbly request you to be a participant in this sacred endeavor of reconstructing the temple at such a holy place.
